Possible relief at West Coast Ports?

As the holiday season comes to an end at the West Coast ports, signs for congestion relief become likely.

Despite the negotiations between shippers and dockworkers, lack of chassis continues to be the leading cause of congestion. Two of the leading Inter-model chassis providers have stepped in and proposed a plan to eliminate obstacles in the lending of chassis. The plan entails creating a “grey fleet” chassis system allowing any chassis to work for any transaction. Cutting the interchange and wait time for truckers pulling shipments from Los Angeles and Long Beach Ports.

As Asia pushes to load out all cargo before the Holiday in mid-February, the U.S. is hoping to clear a majority of the congestion brought in by the Holiday rush.
